Why I admire Ani DiFranco
Because her songs give me the sweetest sting.
She’s been a great influence on my writing, not in terms of style, but choice of topics and things to write about. The brutal honesty in her works has given me a lot of courage. Her journey is every woman’s.
His songs are so woundingly beautiful. The first time I heard “Secret World”, I kept playing it over and over again. I’d like to thank him personally for songs “Biko”, “Blood of Eden”, “I Don’t Remember”, “Digging in the Dirt”, “The Barry Williams Show”, “Games Without Frontiers” & “Don’t Give Up”(duet w/Kate Bush).
After watching BOUND, THE MATRIX TRILOGY, V FOR VENDETTA…who wouldn’t want to meet them?
After seeing him play Beethoven in IMMORTAL BELOVED, I finally realized what a gift he is to the acting community.
I watched WAKING LIFE and I truly admire all that Karmicomicosmic sense of humor that went into the writing of that film. Hats off to Linklater! -s.s.raros(poet&columnist)
I first bought a copy of his book, Shike Part 1 at a bargain store and it took me nearly 2 years to find a copy of Shike Part 2 in the same bargain store. Prior to that, I have scoured several shops for it. His storytelling and memorable characters have captured my imagination. From the tall Mongol skike Jebu, the Lady Taniko, a cross-eyed carpenter Moko, Monks Taitaro & Eisen, Kublai Khan, to the emperors and warring clans of Japan…I continue to read and re-read them to this date.
